WATCH: Alex Hall takes first in Beijing Big Air event
In his second run, Hall solidified his lead with a switch left tail butter 1440 opposite Japan, scoring an impressive 182 points after two runs.
BEIJING — Park City Ski & Snowboard’s own Alex Hall clinched a first-place finish in the big air competition in Beijing, repeating his success in the same city where he won Olympic gold in slopestyle at the 2022 Olympic Winter Games. This victory marks Hall’s 11th career podium in the World Cup, following closely on the heels of his third-place finish in slopestyle in Stubai, Austria, just a week prior.
In his first finals run, Hall executed a rightside double cork 900 bringback, a move that firmly established his lead.
In his second run, Hall solidified his lead with a switch left tail butter 1440 opposite Japan, scoring an impressive 182 points after two runs. This performance allowed him the luxury of a victory lap on his third run, where he secured his first-place position.
Reflecting on his victory, Hall commented, “The jump was the best it’s been all week, which was sick. It’s like T-shirt weather out here, so it got slushy, and it was really fun. I wasn’t necessarily going to come to this event, but then I figured I’d come and just enjoy myself—come to China, enjoy the country, and do the tricks I wanted to do without any pressure. It ended up working out, which I’m really stoked about.”
The podium was completed by Edouard Therriault of Canada and Andri Ragettli of Switzerland, taking the second and third spots, respectively. Hall’s win in Beijing further cements his status as one of the leading figures in the world of freestyle skiing.
