Police Log: Walmart hit with multiple thefts

Monday, Nov. 20

Possession of Marijuana

A vehicle was stopped for traffic violations traveling on Highway 40. During an inventory of the vehicle, deputies found marijuana in the car. The driver was arrested, and the vehicle state tax impounded.

Thursday, Nov. 23

Possession of Marijuana

A traffic stop was initiated on Echo Dam Road for a speeding violation. During the stop, an odor of marijuana was detected coming from the cabin of the vehicle, and a probable cause search was conducted.  A user amount of marijuana and THC products were located during the search.  The driver was issued a citation for the drug offense and released.

Sunday, Nov. 27

Theft

Deputies responded to a report of theft at the Walmart on Landmark Drive. The accuser reported witnessing two individuals concealing food items beneath their clothing. The men were apprehended as they exited the store and moved beyond the checkout areas. Upon inspection, the concealed items were discovered, leading to the arrest of both individuals. Additionally, a search uncovered multiple counterfeit driver’s licenses. Subsequently, both men were processed and placed in custody at Summit County Jail without further issues.

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

A stolen vehicle was discovered parked in the Walmart parking lot on Landmark Drive, leading to the apprehension of two individuals who were subsequently charged with various drug offenses, theft, and the possession of both the stolen vehicle and license plate.

Tuesday, Nov. 28

Theft

Authorities were called to a reported theft underway at the Walmart on Landmark Drive. The suspect departed the scene following the incident, but deputies swiftly apprehended him. Upon inspection, the suspect was discovered with a stolen Adidas jacket and was also found to have 13 outstanding warrants. He was subsequently arrested for retail theft and the pending warrants.

Thursday, Nov. 30

Intoxication

Authorities were called to address a reported Disorderly Conduct and potential Domestic Violence (DV) incident in Kamas. Following the collection of information and evidence, it was determined that there were no substantiated elements of DV. However, one male individual was apprehended for intoxication and smoothly transported to Summit County Jail for processing.

Saturday, Dec. 2

DUI

Responding to a report of a solo vehicle rollover incident on Matterhorn Drive, deputies transported the sole occupant, the driver, to PKMC with minor injuries. Suspecting potential alcohol influence during the crash, deputies conducted a blood draw at PKMC with the driver’s consent. Subsequently, the driver received a DUI citation and was released.

Sunday, Dec. 3

Possession of Marijuana

A westbound vehicle on I-80 came to a halt following a registration check that exposed its lack of insurance. While conducting the stop, the scent of marijuana was noticed, prompting a thorough search of the vehicle based on probable cause. This search led to the discovery of various THC products and paraphernalia. The driver, who was the only occupant, received a citation for both lacking proof of insurance and possessing marijuana.
