Winter weather advisory with 2 to 8 inches of snow expected locally
Total snow accumulations of 2 to 8 inches is expected locally, with up to 12 inches in the high Uintas and 15 inches in the upper Cottonwoods.
PARK CITY, Utah — The National Weather Service has issued a winter advisory warning for the middle of this week.
The warning was issued for the Wasatch Mountains I-80 north, Wasatch Mountains south of I-80 and the Western Uinta Mountains, and will be in effect from 9 a.m. Wednesday to noon on Thursday.
Total snow accumulations of 2 to 8 inches is expected locally, with up to 12 inches in the high Uintas and 15 inches in the upper Cottonwoods.
Winter driving conditions are possible during this time, especially across high elevation and seasonal routes like Monte Cristo and Mirror Lake Highway. Lake effect snow could also bring winter driving conditions to the Cottonwood Canyons Wednesday night into Thursday morning.
“Hikers, hunters, campers and other recreationalists in the backcountry should be prepared for winter conditions with accumulating snow across the northern mountains Wednesday afternoon through Thursday afternoon,” said the advisory.
