Round Valley Way and Quinn’s trailheads renamed to clear up location confusion

PARK CITY, Utah — Two of Park City’s trailheads will soon bear new names in the hope of clearing up confusion regarding their locations.

“The Trails & Open Space Department is renaming the Round Valley Way and Quinn’s trailheads, located in Round Valley, to improve internet search results and ensure accurate information regarding the Round Valley trail system,” Heinrich Deters, trails and open space program manager for Park City Municipal, said in a City Council staff communications report. “Presently, the top search results are associated with directions to a small trailhead situated deep within Park Meadows, causing unnecessary impacts to the neighborhood.”

The Round Valley Way Trailhead will be renamed “Sunny Slopes,” and Quinn’s Trailhead will be renamed “Round Valley Quinn’s.”

According to the staff report, the Trails and Open Space Department hopes that this change will alleviate the current impacts to the Park Meadows neighborhood by redirecting users to the Round Valley Quinn’s location, which is accessible from Highway 40, and has more parking and restrooms.

In order to implement these name changes, the Trails and Open Space Department plans to contact Google to update its search results and maps, as well as popular trail applications such as Trailforks and All Trails. The Department also plans to update relevant city websites to reflect the change.
