Man killed in West Haven shooting, suspect in custody

WEST HAVEN, Utah — A 50-year-old West Haven man is dead and a suspect in custody following a shooting in Weber County yesterday.

According to a statement from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, authorities responded to the area of 4300 W 4700 S in New Haven at approximately 11:10 p.m. Wednesday on report of a gunshot wound.

Upon arrival, deputies located the 50-year-old man, who was unresponsive, in the yard of a residence and began to perform CPR until Weber Fire arrived.

The man was then transported to a hospital by ambulance where he was later pronounced dead.

During the initial investigation a suspect was identified and taken into custody.

According to a statement from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office, this appears to be an isolated incident and there is no outstanding threat to the public.

This case is currently under investigation, and the identity of the victim has not been released pending notification of next of kin.

“The Weber County Sheriff’s Office would like to express its condolences to the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time,” said a statement from the Weber County Sheriff’s Office. “Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they grieve their loss.”
