Driver killed in semitruck rollover in Parleys Canyon
PARK CITY, Utah — The driver of a semitruck was killed yesterday in a rollover accident near the Lamb’s Canyon area of Parleys Canyon.
According to Sgt. Cameron Roden, a public information officer for the Utah Highway Patrol, the semi was hauling sheet metal and traveling westbound near the Lamb’s Canyon ramp at approximately 9:30 p.m. when it drifted off the left and hit the concrete barrier.
The truck then rolled onto its side and slid back to the right where it stopped, blocking the on-ramp and several of the right hand lanes. Parleys Canyon was closed for several hours following the accident.
“They did have to close everything down just due to the darkness and the wet roads and everything,” Roden said. “To keep everybody safe, to keep the scene safe and get it cleaned up, so they did divert traffic off at exit 137.”
The driver, a Houston man, died on the scene from injuries sustained in the accident. His identity has not been released at this time.
