Park City’s Football Passing League is trending, growing, and inspiring

PARK CITY, Utah  — The Park City Passing League wrapped up its season this week for football enthusiasts who want all the excitement of the popular sport’s plays without some of the traditional tackle moves.

It’s a no-contact, youth five-on-five, passing-only football league for three grades; 4/5, 6/7, and 8/9.

Administrators wrote on Facebook, “Thank you for another wonderful Passing League season! We were very nervous about our weather this year and for the most part it was beautiful.” They went on to write, “As many of you know, the football community has grown in Park City over the last several years. Whether or not your child decides to play youth tackle or PCHS football, they are part of our football family with Passing League.”

The emphasis is on instruction and less about winning games. Each game is 50 min. long and the kids are coached by the Park City High School football players. “We have food, music, and it is an all-around great time for the kids,” wrote administrators on their webpage.

Although the Miners are not officially affiliated with the Passing League, Park City High School Athletic Director Jaime Sheetz told TownLift, “It’s a great program, a real win, win for the community. I’m a supporter and fan and any and all credit for their success goes to Jess and John McCurdy, the Director and Commissioner of the League.”

Shannon Dearing Warner commented on Facebook, “Nice season passing league board/volunteers and high school team. You guys once again were AMAZING!!!”
