Flooding and erosion closes part of Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail

PARK CITY, Utah — Flooding and trail erosion prompted authorities to close a portion of the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail on Friday, May 5.

“Due to flooding and trail erosion we are closing the Rail Trail from the Promontory trailhead to SR 248,” said a statement on the Historic Union Pacific Rail Trail Facebook page. “Also, use caution in the Wanship area. We have coned some areas that are also eroding due to high volume of run off this year.”

The trail currently has no estimated opening time.
