Park City prepares for potential flooding with sandbag distribution
PARK CITY, Utah — In anticipation of heavy spring runoff, Park City Municipal has begun distributing sandbags to local residents and businesses.
“The 2022-23 winter has produced a significant amount of snowpack which has the potential to impact spring runoff, mid-April to early June,” said the Park City website. “The possibility of flooding from increased spring runoff is real. Working in partnership with Summit County and state agencies, Park City Municipal’s Emergency Management, Stormwater and Public Works teams are closely monitoring runoff conditions and are prepared to respond to flood emergencies.”
Parkites can pick up 25 filled or unfilled sandbags at the Park City Public Works Department located at 1053 Iron Horse Drive, or request sandbags by calling the sandbag hotline at 435-615-5463. You can also use this online sandbag request form.
When calling the hotline, the city has requested that you leave your name, number, Park City address, and a time when you can come pick up your bags.
