Buy and sell at the annual Park City Bike Swap, April 29-30
PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City Schools Mountain Bike Team will host its annual community Bike Swap April 29-30 at the Utah Film Studios Building on SR 248.
Bikes and accessories may be dropped off at the Film Studio every day from April 24-28 from 4-7 p.m.
Proceeds benefit the Park City School District Mountain Bike Team, for which co-head coach, team manager, and Treasure Mountain Jr. High School teacher, Pete Stoughton trains 7-12th graders not only the skills needed to be safe, fun, and competitive on the hill, but off the hill as well. The athletes can utilize the bike swap opportunity to learn mechanical skills to keep their equipment in-tune and true.
Based out of the Miner’s program, student athletes like Josie Johnson and others from local schools race on the team, even though she attends the Winter School.
Since the award winning trails around Park City are going to take some time this Spring to dry out and be ready to accommodate tires due to record setting snow depths, the Swap is a perfect time to transition from winter gear to summer.
Bike shopping is from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, April 29, and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 30.
The event is in conjunction with the former operator, Young Riders Mountain Bike Team (YR). Summer programming registration is open now for YR, but traditionally sells out quickly.
Park City biking programs like Little Bellas encourage and support entry level girl mountain bikers including those from the local LatinX community to ride. The program is supported by a grant from the Solomon Fund of Park City Community Foundation.
Fund founder Beano Solomon told TownLift, “The community bike swaps act as fun and efficient clearinghouses to redistribute bikes throughout Park City and beyond. Children who may have outgrown last year’s gear can get a well-fitting bike and go out and hit the trails.”
