Wasatch County SAR rescues snowmobiler

WASATCH COUNTY, Utah — Wasatch County Search and Rescue teams were able to rescue a snowmobiler that had become trapped in deep snow yesterday in the Lake Creek area, above the Timberlakes.

According to the Wasatch County SAR, the agency received a call at around 4:40 p.m.

“A call came into the 911 Dispatch Center from a person(22 yr male) that was in trouble,” said a statement from Wasatch County SAR. “His snowmobile was stuck in a creek bed and the snow was too deep to walk. He had become separated from his party for a couple of hours. The poor signal was dropped before a gps could be located. SAR teams responded to the top of Timberlakes to begin searching.”

Wasatch County SAR was able to locate the man in the deep snow after dark and help him get back down the mountain. Overall, the rescue took 3.5 hours to complete.

“Be careful the snow is deep and the avi danger is getting bad,” said a statement from Wasatch County SAR.
