Sharpen While You Shop: early holiday shopping at New West KnifeWorks

PARK CITY, Utah — There’s sharp shopping on Main Street this shoulder season. New West KnifeWorks is rolling out the red carpet for locals to do their holiday shopping before the crowds arrive. This year, New West is offering 20% off orders over $350 plus free custom engraving from November 1-14.

“Our knives are made to last a lifetime,” said Corey Milligan, New West KnifeWorks owner and knifemaker-in-chief. “So, ultimately, you want to form a bond with your knife. It’s more than a tool, it’s an extension of your hand. Having a blade custom engraved turns it into a really special gift.”

Chances are you’ll get to watch the engraving process while you wait. “I grew up on Star Wars,” Milligan said, “so it was always a dream of mine to have a lightsaber— having my own laser for knife engraving is definitely an adult version of a Jedi power.”

The company’s signature, colorful G-Fusion and Ironwood knives are included in the promotion.

Milligan explains, “I personally love to give knives as gifts. It’s something your loved one can use every day that really enriches their life. And best of all, they think of you fondly when they use it.”

To sharpen the shopping experience, New West is offering the “first knife free” for its in-store sharpening service through November 18. That means you can bring your old Henckel, Shun, or the favorite nameless knife you inherited from your great, great grandma, and New West will sharpen it for free. Of course, all New West knives receive free sharpening for life– just another reason they make great gifts.

Western food writer Lily Krass is a big fan of sharp knives. “Prepping a meal with a freshly sharpened knife is up there with one of life’s greatest pleasures. It’s easier, safer, and ultimately makes the end product significantly better. There’s nothing worse than trying to hack at a tomato with a dull butter knife.”

Krass waxes poetic about the pleasure of a sharp knife in her most recent story.
