SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A fire broke out on I-80 in Lamb’s Canyon between Park City and Salt Lake City in the morning of September 6. The fire began between Mountain Dell Golf Course and Lambs Canyon.
According to Park City Fire District, the fire appeared to have started on the road from a vehicle fire and then climbed up the hill side towards a former shooting range property. Emergency vehicles and workers from Park City Fire Department and UFA are on the scene combatting the flames on the hillside with hoses. Smoke is visible from multiple views around the fire.
Eastbound traffic on I-80 is down to one lane, while westbound traffic continues to flow normally. Summit County’s Alert Center as of 12:15pm reports that no homes are currently threatened by the fire, and no evacuations are necessary.
Michele Roepke from TownLift captured the following video of the incident:
According to Roepke, the fire appears to be shrinking, while eastbound traffic continues to worsen. TownLift will continue to update this article with developments as they occur.
