Utah hosting two world championship qualifying events
SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — The Utah Sports Commission (USC) is proudly promoting two competitions this weekend, the winners of which will make their way to Italy and Greece, respectively.
The Cache Grand Fondo, on July 9, is an annual Italian-style ride in Cache Valley in Northern Utah. Bicyclists can ride either on a 35 mile, 50 mile, 75 mile or 105 mile route. 1,600 – 1,700 athletes from Utah, Arizona, Idaho and Nevada will be in attendance. Top finishers will advance to race in Trento, Italy.
The Spartan Trifecta, on July 9 and 10, at Snowbasin gives 9,000 racers the ability to compete in a Trifecta (Sprint 5K, Super 10K, and Beast 21K) in just one weekend, and qualify for the 2022 World Championship in Sparta, Greece.
The combination of the two events, according to the USC, will bring between $7.2 and 8.8 million to Utah.
