Calling all female (wannabe) anglers: Jans’ Intro to Fly Fishing Course

PARK CITY, Utah. — Have you ever imagined yourself on the river casting for rainbow trout, but had no idea where to even begin? Jans fly fishing guide Molly Winston is the answer to your daydreams. Winston heads up its women’s-only Intro to Fly Fishing Course; with small class sizes catered to female anglers, Women’s Intro to Fly Fishing provides a comfortable environment for honing your skills on the water. The course is highly accessible by supplying all the necessary equipment and offering many dates throughout the summer.

Before wader-ing up and heading to a nearby river, Winston will get started with safety tips, fly fishing etiquette, fish handling, and the proper gear. Transportation from the shop to the river and back is not provided. Please bring your own car or buddy up to follow your guide to the river.

The remainder of the class, approximately three hours, is spent on the water, learning how to set up your rig for different conditions or preferences, approach the water, cast, and handle your catch, as well as basic entomology (insects and their various life-stages), and deciphering water flows and temperatures.

All experience levels are welcome whether it’s your first time holding a rod or you want a refresher on the basics, Winston’s guidance will get fish on your line.

Dates available are Thursday, June 23, Thursday, July 14, and Saturday, August 6. Sign up for a course date that works best to create a solid foundation for your newfound skills and passion for fly fishing in a lesson exclusive to women anglers. The cost is $250 per person and includes rod, reel, waders, and terminal tackle (Utah State Fishing License, tax, and gratuity not included.)
