Park City’s Colby Stevenson wins silver in men’s freeski big air event
BEIJING — Park City resident and 24 year old Colby Stevenson continued to defy the odds in Beijing as he brought home a silver medal for the United States in the men’s freeski big air event.
Despite enduring a car accident which nearly left him dead back in 2016, and doctors giving him minimal odds to return to the sport, Stevenson nailed his two final runs in order to make the podium.
After a forgettable first run where he struggled to land a clean jump and only scored a 34.75, Stevenson completely flipped the script on runs two and three.

After awaiting the final results from a vast majority of the remaining competitors, Stevenson had maintained control of second place and captured the silver for the stars and stripes. Meanwhile, fellow American Alexander Hall struggled to perform a clean landing on his final jump which kept him in eighth place.
