Calls for service: Police and sheriff logs

Calls for service to the Park City Police Department (PCPD) and the Summit County Sheriff Department (SCSD) for the week of November 8 – 14.

MONDAY:

SCSD – Deputies responded to a hit and run, where a Honda Accord was in the Mister car wash at Kimball Jct. behind an Acura MDX. The driver of the Honda had their large breed dog in their lap, which caused the car to go into drive and hit the Acura. Both drivers were instructed to exchange information in the adjacent parking lot, but the driver of the Honda left. The owner was found at his address and found to not have a valid license. The Park City man in his 50s and owner of the Honda was cited for leaving the scene of an accident and no valid license. He was also educated about not having their large dog in their lap while they operate a motor vehicle.
 
TUESDAY:
 
SCSD – A deputy observed a vehicle swerving on the roadway while driving Eastbound on I-80. The car was subsequently stopped for multiple lane violations and the odor of alcoholic beverage was detected from the vehicle and the breath of the driver. Three juveniles under the age of eight were in the car without proper restraints. The driver, a Coalville man in his 30s, was arrested after performing poorly on field sobriety tests. The children were released to a family member.
 
PCPD – Officers investigated a retail theft at the 711 on Sidewinder Drive. They assisted with a trespassing order for the suspect at the request of the store management.
 
FRIDAY:
 
SCSD –  Juveniles and one adult were located at Trailside Park. During the course of the investigation, it was found three juveniles had consumed an alcoholic beverage, and one had a vape pen in their possession. The adult, a Hideout man in his 20s, admitted to providing the alcoholic beverages to the juveniles and was booked into jail. Juvenile referrals were issued for all parties who consumed alcohol, parents were called, and took custody of their juvenile children.
 
SCSD – In Kamas, a woman called in to report her husband, in his 30s, had previously abused their 3-month-old Belgian Malinois puppy. The woman explained her husband was using illegal drugs, and she provided a video of her husband striking their puppy on the head with a pool cue. The man can be seen chasing the puppy before striking her then following her into another room after hitting her with the pool cue. He chased the puppy into a room and shut the door from where continuous yelping and crying by the puppy could be heard on the video. The Kamas man was booked into the Summit County Jail on one count of Felony 3 Animal Cruelty to a Companion Animal.
 
SATURDAY:
 
SCSD – Deputies were dispatched to a theft occurring at the Calvin Klein outlet store. An Hispanic man, and two Hispanic women loaded a duffle bag with approximately $800 worth of merchandise before running to an awaiting white minivan. Deputies circulated the area and could not locate the van. This was the second call in the last week of white minivan stealing from the outlets.
