Summit County named finalist in Utah Ethical Leadership Awards

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — On Monday, Summit County received finalist recognition in the government category of the 2021 Utah Ethical Leadership Awards.

The awards seek to recognize nonprofits, businesses, and government entities for their exhibition of ethical principles.

“This award is a reflection of the dedicated work that occurs through Summit County government,” said Summit County Council Chair Glenn Wright. “It is the result of many unsung heroes in each of our departments and a recognition of their efforts to serve the public with fairness, respect and the other principles the Utah Ethical Leadership Award embodies. In this era of controversy and divisiveness, the task is not always easy or popular. We honor our employees for their integrity and commitment to service to the community.”

The Utah Ethical Leadership Awards program was launched eight years ago to recognize and support organizations in the state of Utah that emulate the spirit of ethical leadership exhibited by Bill Daniels, a founder of the modern cable industry and former owner of the Utah Stars.

“Serving the employees, residents and visitors of Summit County with integrity is a cornerstone of our county government,” said Summit County Manager Tom Fisher. “We cannot function as local government without the trust of our citizens. Over the last 18 months, our organization has been challenged at every level in ways we couldn’t have foreseen. Throughout these challenges we remained dedicated to pursuing the right course, even if it has not always been the easy one.”

Past winners of this award include Summit County-based organizations such as the National Ability Center and All West Communications. A complete list of recipients can be found online.

The awards are presented in coordination with the Daniels Fund, the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business and the Community Foundation of Utah (CFU), and sponsored by Utah Business Magazine and the Kem C.
