Calls for service: Police and sheriff logs

Calls for service to the Park City Police Department (PCPD) and the Summit County Sheriff Department (SCSD) for the week of September 20 – 26.

MONDAY:

SCSD – A man left his car unlocked in the parking lot while he went into several Kimball Jct. businesses. When he returned, the alarm was going off and his backpack which contained a laptop computer and a drone was missing. Footage from area security cameras is being reviewed.

SCSD – A Kamas resident in his 50s arrived to work at the Westgate Hotel at the Canyons Base area and parked in the employee dirt parking lot. He left the car unlocked with the keys on the floorboard. When he went to his car after work the 2001 BMW X5 was missing. 

TUESDAY:

PCPD – Officers responded to an illegal fire burning in the Little Kate Rd. area of the Park Meadows neighborhood. The Fire District authorities were able to resolve the situation without the need for law enforcement.

PCPD – Officers responded to a dispute between two customers at O’Shucks bar on Main St. A woman reported that a man was hostile and had talked about wanting to fight someone. The man left the bar after speaking with officers, while the woman and her party left.

SCSD – A call came in regarding a hunting incident that had occurred on Monday in the Smith and Morehouse area east of Oakley. A man stated that he and another man had been in a citizen dispute over who shot an elk and who was going to harvest it. The unidentified hunter retrieved a firearm during the course of the argument and fired into the nearby ground. The caller provided a description of the male and a possible vehicle belonging to him. The male was described as a white male in his 30s.

SCSD – An Oakley man and woman in their 30s got into an argument over separation and living arrangements. During the argument, the woman punched a hole in the wall upstairs, and threw a decorative lantern at the ground in his direction causing the lantern to break and the glass to shatter. While the man was cleaning up the broken lantern, the woman went back upstairs making statements about burning the house to the ground with him inside. The man heard the woman fumbling with something upstairs, and stated it sounded like she was rustling with shotgun shells. The man distanced himself from the stairs near the kitchen as the woman came back down the stairs. When the woman got to the bottom of the stairs the man saw the shotgun in her hands. The woman opened the shotgun and loaded two 20-gauge shells. She then pointed the shotgun at the man who ran out of the house and down the road to a neighbor and called 911. The woman was taken into custody without incident and transported to Summit County Jail.

THURSDAY: 

PCPD – Officers responded to a fight in progress near the 7-11 on Sidewinder. The involved parties separated prior to police arrival. One suspect fled on foot as police arrived. Officers canvased the area but were unable to locate the suspect. The other involved party remained on scene, was checked by EMS and provided an initial statement but was not cooperative with officers.

FRIDAY: 

SCSD – A home located between the Park City Mountain ski area, the Park City Municipal Golf Course, the Rotary Park and the Silver Star chairlift base was the subject of a call. A man reported his contractor went to do some maintenance on the property at and found an individual living in the house. He stated the house should be vacant because it is set to be demolished. Deputies responded, made contact with a man who admitted to staying in the house without permission. The owner asked he not be charged, only trespassed and the man left the property.

SUNDAY:

SCSD – A woman in her 20s called in to report a man in his 20s had reportedly brandished a gun during a road rage incident. An attempt-to-locate was broadcast prompting deputies to respond to the area on Kilby Rd. where they were able to identify the suspect vehicle and driver. After interviews and vehicle searches, it was determined there was no gun involved, and that the suspect had a phone in his hand.
