BYU beats Utah 26 – 17 at home in Holy War
PROVO, Utah. — Winning the first three quarters, 0 – 3, 7 – 13, 0 – 7, then giving the fourth up to the U of U 3 – 10, for their first time in ten years, the Cougars finally got one against their in-state rivals. The series now stands at 62 games Utah has won, 32 games BYU has won and there have been 4 ties over all the years between these two teams.
BYU snapped their losing streak against the U of U at home on Saturday at Lavelle Edwards Stadium.
A field goal by BYU’s Oldroyd from 36 yards out gave them the first three on the board for the game.
Second quarter found a TD by Pau’u of BYU, followed by a TD by Kuithe from U of U then answered by another one to Nacua of BYU.
In the third, BYU QB Hall threw the ball to Romney for a TD.
Quarter four had a field goal and a touchdown for the Utes but ended with a field goal by BYU to end it at 17 – 26
BYU is 2 – 0 for the season while the Utes are 1 – 1.
BYU next plays Utah State at Merlin Olsen Field in Logan.
The Utes hope to do better next week in San Diego against the 2 – 0 Aztecs.
