Parley’s Canyon Fire over 80% contained

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — On Wednesday night, Utah Fire Info announced that the Parley’s Canyon Fire is up to 80 percent contained.

The size remains at 541 acres.

Fires are measured by the size of the burned area. 541 acres doesn’t indicate how much is still burning, but how much has been burned.

Containment, on the other hand, represents how much of the fire is no longer expected to grow due to the fireline around it.

Roughly 0.85 of an inch of rain has impacted the fire ground since Tuesday.

“Many #firefighters were released today, either to other fires or for home; more will be released in the morning,” Utah Fire Info said in a tweet.

There are currently 193 personnel committed to the fire as of Wednesday night.
