Parleys Canyon Fire causes evacuation orders for 6000 – 8000 homes

PARK CITY, Utah. — The Parleys Canyon Fire determined to be caused by a faulty catalytic convertor that ejected hot particles along the roadside continues to grow rapidly and is estimated to be 2500-3000 acres. The fire is burning along I-80 in Parley’s Canyon.
Current list of areas under evacuation: Summit Park, Pine Brook, Lambs Canyon & Mill Creek. Estimated at 6000-8000 homes. An evacuation shelter has been moved to the Park City High School.
2 VLATs, 4 LATs, 6 SEATs, 2 Type 3 helicopters, Air Attack & numerous local, state & federal ground resources are on scene.
I-80 one lane is open eastbound and all westbound lanes are open. UDOT is urging drivers to avoid the area and use an alternate route.
