Heber City Police Chief cleared after “baseless” complaint

HEBER CITY, Utah — Heber City Mayor Kelleen Potter said in a statement on Monday that Heber City Police Chief Dave Booth has been cleared and returned to work following an internal complaint that an independent review found to be “baseless and without merit.”

In early July, Booth was placed on temporary leave while the investigation was taking place.

The review was conducted by the Utah Department of Public Safety and Wasatch County Sheriff Office after being initiated by Heber City Municipal.

“Heber City celebrates the more than thirty years of public service that Dave Booth has provided in the Vernal, Park City, Summit County, and Heber Valley communities,” Mayor Potter said in the statement.

“He is the recipient of the 2019 Chief of the Year Award by the Utah Chiefs Association. He has earned admiration throughout Heber City and the Heber Valley as a competent, compassionate leader and is a substantive and contributing citizen. We are grateful for his contributions, both past and forthcoming.”

“It is a tough time for a department when anyone is put on leave, not to mention the Chief of Police,” the Heber City Police Department said in a statement.

“Believing in the process we removed ourselves from media or social media comment to preserve the integrity of the investigation and not impede. We want to thank the citizens of Heber for the continued support and love we have felt.”
