Fatal plane crash in Davis County

DAVIS COUNTY, Utah — On the evening of Sunday, August 15, the Davis County Dispatch received a call about a potential plane crash on Sessions Mountain in Davis County.

At roughly 10:30 pm, Search and Rescue crews were able to locate the crash by air on a Utah Department of Public Safety Star 9 helicopter.

Hours later, early Monday morning, the team located the Cessna 182 in a very remote part of the mountain.

Initial reports suggest to the Davis County Sheriff’s Office that the single-engine aircraft was carrying a pilot and two additional passengers at the time of the crash.

“There were no survivors,” the Davis County Sheriff press release said. “Next of kin have been notified. The crash site and surrounding areas have been secured.”

The investigation has now been turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
