Calls for service: Police and sheriff logs
Calls for service to the Park City Police Department (PCPD) and the Summit County Sheriff Department (SCSD) for the week of August 23 – 29.
MONDAY:
PCPD – In the North 40 parking lot, at the base of PC Hill, sometime over the weekend someone lit two portable toilets on fire. As a result, both bathrooms completely melted the ground.
PCPD – A deputy observed a suspicious vehicle at the Rockport pull-off on SR 32 in Summit County. which had a window broken out. After further investigation, the registered owner was found to have multiple active arrest warrants including felony possession charges out of third District Salt Lake. The man was taken into custody for the warrants and possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia. He was transported and booked into the Summit County Jail without incident.
TUESDAY:
PCPD – Officers arrested a female driver for DUI, traffic and drug related charges during a traffic stop investigation.
WEDNESDAY:
SCSD – Deputies were dispatched to a hit and run in the Kimball Junction Chevron parking lot. A FedEx tractor-trailer had backed into a power pole knocking the pole down and causing a power outage in Kimball Junction for several hours. The power lines also fell onto another vehicle, causing minor damage. The driver fled the scene but was later located on highway 40. The driver was cited for leaving the scene of an accident.
THURSDAY:
SCSD – Deputies were dispatched to a property damage call on Quarry Mountain Ln. in Summit County. The caller reported that a car had crashed into several trees near her driveway. Contact was made with the driver who was identified as a Park City woman in her 60s. The woman displayed signs of impairment – was found to have numerous prior DUI convictions and was arrested for felony DUI. A blood draw warrant was obtained and served without incident.
FRIDAY:
PCPD – The Police Department hosted a DUI Blitz along with Utah Highway Patrol. During a traffic stop associated with the blitz and officer found the driver was driving under the influence of alcohol, was alcohol restricted and a suspended license. The driver was arrested and transported to jail.
SCSD – One deputy, patrolled the main entrance of the Treasure Mountain Junior High School from inside a vehicle and two deputies entered the building during school hours and spoke with varied front office staff members after one student was witnessed assaulting another student inside the school during school hours on Thursday. A video that had been taken of the incident by a student was posted online. The principal of the Junior High School emailed a letter he’d written and a video of himself addressing the situation. A few Park City High School Students were visibly upset and express verbal concern at the Park City Junior High School on Friday. “Law enforcement is in the process of conducting a detailed investigation,” The Park City School Board said in a statement.
SATURDAY:
PCPD – On Royal Street in Deer Valley, a woman entered a residence not belonging to her, without permission, and assaulted a worker. She was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.
SCSD – At the Sunglass Hut store in the Outlet Mall, deputies were dispatched to a theft. Two unidentified men entered the store staying for approximately five minutes before leaving the store with several pairs of unpaid sunglasses. The total amount of loss is approximately $1000. They left in a black-colored Nissan Frontier. The men were not located. Surveillance photos exist of subjects.
SUNDAY:
PCPD – Individual warned for overnight camping in Round Valley.
