Shelley Worley picked as next Deputy Health Director for Summit County
SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — The Summit County Health Department has selected Shelley Worley as its next Deputy Health Director. Worley will assume the position on July 26.
“I am so pleased by the selection of Shelley as the next Deputy Health Director for Summit County,” County Manager Tom Fisher said.
She has been serving as the Director of Health Promotion since 2017. She will succeed Dr. Phil Bondurant, who was appointed to the position earlier this summer.
“Shelley is a proven leader with a strong public health background supported by real-world experience. Given her careful and strategic way of thinking, she is someone who will help take this department to the next level,” Dr. Phil Bondurant said.
The County said the decision to select Worley was based on her vision for the department, her consideration of staff, and her post-COVID-19 recovery plans.
“I’m excited to not only help improve and advance the overall health and wellness of the County, but to make sure that it’s left even better for the next generation,” Worley said. “I cannot wait to see what we do as a Health Department over the next couple years. Public Health is changing and we’re going to be a part of establishing a new standard.”
In her time as Director of Health Promotion, Worley worked to expand the County’s suicide prevention programming and increase its diabetes prevention services.
