The Midweek Mountain Bike races are on a roll
PARK CITY, Utah. — Last Tuesday and every Tuesday this summer, the Mid Week MTB Series hosts a community activity where mountain bikers at all levels are welcome to join.
First-year race director Trilby Cox said, “Today we have over 400 racers, approximately 420. There are seven cross country races and five mini enduro races. Spaces are remaining for all of the cross country races, so please sign up online and join us for one or all of the events this season.”
Changing locations each week found this group taking advantage of the extensive trails in Round Valley at the Quinn’s Trailhead adjacent to the National Ability Center. Next Tuesday will be at Bob’s Basin in Jeremy Ranch. The series stays within the Wasatch Mountain Range.
“These races are open to anybody, simply sign a waiver and you’re in. There are lots of other high school teams plus it’s great because you’ve got everyone from pros to outright beginners. We have just started training for our competitive season. It was really fortuitous that one of this first races of the season is right in our back yard so we’ve got a lot of the new racers out today.” — Chris Best, Park City Miners Mountain Bike Team
Different distances are offered at different venues and for different genders and skill levels. For example, beginners can race a five-mile course, and sport, expert, and pro classes will double that.
