CLEVELAND, Ohio. — Last night’s NFL Draft made history for the state of Utah. BYU’s quarterback Zach Wilson went as the second pick in the first round. Wilson was drafted by the New York Jets.
Prior to last night’s pick, 1968 was the last time any Utahn got that close. The late, great Merlin Olsen was drafted from USU by the Los Angeles Rams as a defensive tackle as the third pick in the first round. Olsen subsequentially had the USU football field named in his honor.
The three days long 2021 NFL Draft continues through Saturday, May 1st and is being broadcast nightly on ABC and NFL.com/draft.
