BREAKING: Vaccines now available to Summit County residents 40+ years old

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah. — The health department announced this morning that all Summit County residents aged 40 and above may now register for the COVID-19 vaccine.

Beginning today, the Summit County Health Department will start sending vaccination appointment invitations to more than 6,300 people ages 40-64  who pre-registered for the vaccine at summitcountyhealth.org (if the website is down, please visit: https://summitcounty.activehosted.com/f/3

Summit County’s new age threshold is now lower than the rest of the state; Utah Governor Spencer Cox announced this morning that vaccine appointments would now be available to all Utahns aged 50 and above.

“The Summit County Health Department made this call to open vaccination appointments to the 40 and older population due to the highly efficient operations of our county’s vaccination clinic located at the Utah Film Studio,” Summit County Health Department Director Rich Bullough said. “We applaud the clinic staff and volunteers and thank the Gary Crandall family and Utah Film Studios for the extremely generous use of their facilities. These efforts made the decision to open such a large number of vaccination appointments possible.”

Those who fall into this age group but has not pre-registered for the vaccine, go to summitcountyhealth.org/vaccine to pre-register.  Those who sign up after March 4 will likely have a 4-6 week wait for an appointment in Summit County, based on current vaccine allocations. The county will provide more information on vaccine shipments as it becomes available.

For any questions concerning vaccine registration or appointment making process, call the Summit County COVID-19 hotline at 435-333-0050.

People not eligible to receive the vaccine yet who have not pre-registered to be notified when a vaccine becomes available can sign up for notifications at summitcountyhealth.org/vaccine.

Anyone 18 and older with specific underlying conditions can also register to receive a vaccine in Summit County. Vaccine clinics in the county only have the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson (18+) vaccines. Teenagers 16-17 years old must register for the Pfizer vaccine at a participating Wasatch Front clinic.
