SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah. — On Feb. 17th, Summit County Search and Rescue took to the frozen waters of Rockport Reservoir to conduct a training exercise. Since it was formed in 1972, the mission of this all-volunteer group has been to fulfill the Sheriff’s responsibility to provide search and rescue services to Summit County.
Their message to all remains, “Please don’t enter the backcountry alone. Always have a plan and take a buddy with you.” Marshaling all their resources at planned intervals like this ensures that when emergencies occur, the right people have the right practice in the right places.
