U of U and Westminister 1st and 2nd in RMISA Men’s Slalom at Park City
PARK CITY, Utah. — Alpine skiing sent its best and brightest from near and far to race at Park City Mountain Resort (PCMR) Thursday and Friday.
The Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association (RMISA) consists of nine schools:
University of Alaska Anchorage
Colorado Mountain College
Westminster College
University of Utah
University of Alaska Fairbanks
University of Colorado
University of Denver
Montana State University
University of Wyoming
Athletes and coaches can hail from European countries, and can study, work and compete for Rocky Mountain region schools in the RMISA and in the National Collegiate Athletics Association (NCAA) to represent their home nation in the same discipline in the Winter Olympic Games.
This week’s Invitational produced podiums for local favorites in the Team Scoring:
Women’s Slalom; 1st Montana State, 2nd Alaska Anchorage, 3rd Westminster
Men’s Slalom; 1st Utah, 2nd Westminister; 3rd Colorado
Women’s Giant Slalom; 1st Westminster, 2nd Colorado, 3rd Utah
Men’s Giant Slalom; 1st Montana State, 2nd Utah, 3rd Denver
Next weekend the same nine schools’ nordic skiers will compete in Midway, UT at Soldier Hollow (SOHO) in that discipline’s RMISA competition. Results from PCMR and SOHO will be included in the compilation determining whom will represent their schools in the 2021 NCAA Ski Championships taking place next month in New Hampshire.
PCMR and SOHO hosted NCAA Ski Championships back in 2014.
