Park City Turkey Trot Virtual in 2020
PARK CITY, Utah. — For the past eight years, the Park City Turkey Trot has been held on Thanksgiving morning for local runners and families looking to participate in a casual calorie burn before their big feast. However their ninth annual trot, like numerous other running events across the nation, will be moving virtual.
Park City Turkey Trot organizer Michelle Dufford, a Parkite and business owner of Create Possibility and Goal Coaching, started the “CREATE Your Turkey Trot” club on Strava so runners, walkers and joggers can participate in this year’s event, but safely.
According to Dufford, there are multiple ways for participants to donate their “registration fee” of non-perishable goods and hygienic products this year. She asks runners to take these goods to local drop boxes at: Miner’s Town Strength and Conditioning, The Beau Collective, Rise Boxing, Orange Theory Fitness, Boom Cycle Room or Crossfit Park City. Participants can also donate money to Dufford’s “Create” business account via Venmo account @Michelle-dufford. She will take these funds to purchase goods and donate them.
“To keep the tradition going [this year] and keep safe we can still CREATE a space to move, sweat, trot and experience community,” Dufford said. “We can show up to give back generously and breathe in this beautiful fresh air. Focusing on what we CAN do is uplifting instead of dwelling in what we CAN’T these days.”
Dufford asks that participants to “Trot where you are” and share your pictures with her via her Instagram @create_possibility_ .
Here’s to their tenth annual trot looking a little different come 2021.
