Promontory Foundation awards record $500K to 45 Wasatch Back nonprofits
PARK CITY, Utah — The Promontory Foundation awarded a record $500,000 to 45 nonprofits serving the Wasatch Back during its annual Happiest Hour reception Tuesday.
The total represents the largest number of nonprofit recipients and the largest annual grant distribution in the foundation’s 20-year history, according to Promontory.
Promontory members raised the funds during the private community’s annual fundraising event July 3. The record fundraising year will also allow the foundation to establish an endowment intended to support local nonprofits and charitable organizations in the years ahead.
Among this year’s recipients, the People’s Health Clinic received the $50,000 Promontory Promise Grant.
The clinic provides free healthcare to uninsured individuals and families in Summit and Wasatch counties and partners with other local nonprofits to connect patients with needed services.
The grant will support services including primary care, chronic disease management, women’s health, pediatric care, mental health services, and community resource navigation, according to the foundation.
“Promontory members continue to demonstrate their unwavering generosity and commitment to the greater Park City community, particularly to organizations that provide necessary social services, as well as nonprofits focused on arts, culture and education to enhance the quality of life for those who live, work, and visit here,” Kelli Brown, managing director of Promontory, said in a statement.
The Promontory Foundation was founded in 2006. Since its inception, it has awarded more than $4 million in grants to local nonprofits, according to Promontory. With matching grant dollars included, the foundation estimates its total local impact at more than $11 million.
