Bobsled Express construction brings trail detours to SR-224 corridor

PARK CITY, Utah — Sections of sidewalk and multi-use trails along the SR-224 corridor will be rerouted during the 2026 construction season as work begins on the Bobsled Express bus rapid transit project, High Valley Transit said.

Work is anticipated to begin in April, with early preparatory activity already underway. Construction is planned at multiple locations between Kimball Junction and Deer Valley Drive and is expected to continue in phases through summer 2028. No construction is anticipated from December 2026 through March 2027.

During the 2026 season, the segment from Olympic Boulevard to Bear Hollow Drive will include utility relocation, roadway reconstruction for a dedicated bus lane, new station installations, and minor trail detours. The segment from Silver Springs Road to Canyons Resort Drive will include construction of a new multi-use trail, pedestrian improvements, and related drainage and utility work.

East- and west-side pedestrian and trail detours are planned near Bear Hollow Drive, Sun Peak Drive, Old Ranch Road, Canyons Resort Drive, Ute Boulevard, Olympic Parkway, Newpark Boulevard, and the Summit County Library/Richins Building.

High Valley Transit advises cyclists to use designated bike lanes or established trails during construction, noting that the shoulder is not safe for cycling in work zones.

Construction updates and project information are available on High Valley Transit’s SR-224 BRT website.
