PARK CITY, Utah — Park City residents have until 5 p.m. on January 5 to apply for a vacant seat on the City Council following the resignation of Councilmember and Mayor-Elect Ryan Dickey.
Applicants must be registered voters in Park City, have lived within the city for at least the past 12 consecutive months, and maintain a primary residence within city limits for the duration of the term. Interested residents are required to submit an online application along with a conflict of interest disclosure.
After the application period closes, the city council will hold interviews with all qualified applicants in open, public meetings. The council is expected to appoint a candidate to serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which runs through the first Monday of January 2028.
Depending on the number of applications received, interviews may be held during special public meetings on January 9 and January 13, 2026. The council may make the appointment at its regular meeting on January 15, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. All meetings will take place in City Council Chambers.
The application and appointment process is governed by Utah state law, which requires a defined timeline and public process for filling midterm municipal vacancies.
Application materials and additional information are available on the city’s website.
