Police Log: New Year’s brings spike in DUIs and disorderly conduct

Monday, December 29

Incident: Disturbing the peace
A caller on Main Street complained of a loud club making a lot of noise and people yelling on the street.

Incident: Motorist assist
A bus broke down going up Deer Valley Dr. The caller reported that the bus was electric and would not turn on.

Incident: Business assist
A worker on Main Street reported an individual who trespassed in their store twice.

Incident: Citizen assist
A caller reported a missing vehicle after returning to the Main Street lot where they parked. No tow record for the vehicle was in dispatch reports and Park City Tow also didn’t take the vehicle.

Tuesday, December 30

Incident: Traffic hazard
A driver called to report a hurt deer in the road blocking traffic.

Incident: Intoxication
A woman was reported drunk and acting violent towards staff, touching, and grabbing people at a Deer Valley Dr business. According to the caller, she was wearing an all pink snow suit and had a dog on a leash with her.

Wednesday, December 31

Incident: Trespassing
An individual trespassed behind Main Street properties trying to get to the No Name Saloon.

Incident: Alcohol offense
Deputies observed a sedan driving westbound on I-80. The vehicle did not have visible registration, was driving too close to the vehicle in front of it, and speeding. During the traffic stop, two juveniles and one adult minor were in the vehicle with possession of alcohol and open containers. The juveniles were released to an adult, and the driver was cited for possession/consumption of alcohol by a minor.

Incident: DUI
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation. During the stop the driver performed poorly on standard field sobriety tests. The driver was placed under arrest and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Incident: DUI
Deputies conducted a traffic stop for a vehicle driving the wrong way. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The vehicle was impounded state tax.

Incident: DUI
Multiple callers reported a vehicle that was swerving all over the road from Salt Lake City heading eastbound on I-80 after it had already hit a wall. The vehicle was followed by Park City Tow until deputies stopped the vehicle. The driver showed signs of impairment and was arrested for suspicion of DUI. The vehicle was impounded state tax.

Thursday, January 1

Incident: Business assist
Staff at a Marsac Ave business reported a guest who was very intoxicated insisting they let him drive his car down Marsac.

Incident: Drugs
Deputies stopped a vehicle for a moving violation. During the traffic stop, a K9 alerted to the odor of narcotics. A vehicle search revealed methamphetamine and paraphernalia. The driver was arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail without incident.

Incident: Drugs
Deputies conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after discovering the registered owner had an active warrant. Deputies discovered cocaine on the driver while searching his person. A vehicle search resulted in the discovery of an open container of alcohol and drug paraphernalia. The driver was arrested for drug related charges and for an active arrest warrant.

Friday, January 2

Incident: Traffic hazard
Several rocks had reportedly fallen on Wheaton Way creating a traffic hazard.

Incident: Property damage
A caller self reported that she had hit a patch of ice and damaged a bicycle sculpture as she was leaving a trailhead on Meadows Dr.

Incident: Fireworks
Officers located individuals lighting off fireworks in the street. Due to the amount of spent fireworks on the ground, it seems they had been going on for a while.

Saturday, January 3

Incident: Suspicious
An officer observed the front door of a house was wide open. When they investigated, they saw the home was under construction and nothing appeared disturbed.

Incident: Business assist
Officers were called to assist with two individuals who refused to leave a Main Street business.

Incident: Business assist
A manager from a Main Street business requested assistance with a group of men who refused to leave the bar.

Sunday, January 4

Incident: Civil problem
A man reported that his vehicle was damaged while parked at the Montage.

Incident: Citizen assist
A caller complained about speeding vehicles on Deer Valley Dr.
