SALT LAKE CITY, UT — The Public Service Commission of Utah has approved Enbridge Gas’ base rate filing, allowing updated rates to take effect Jan. 1, 2026, for customers in Utah, Idaho and Wyoming, the company said Wednesday.
Base rates are reviewed and filed every three years and are intended to cover the costs of delivering natural gas to customers, including pipeline infrastructure maintenance and equipment, according to Enbridge.
For a typical residential customer, the change will increase the average monthly bill by about $2.67, or roughly $32 a year — a 4.8% increase, the company said.
Enbridge said it has invested nearly $1 billion over the last three years to improve and expand its system infrastructure.
The company said natural gas remains the lowest-cost home heating option nationally and that, in Utah, a typical customer currently pays about $1.91 per day for service used for home heating, cooking and water heating. Enbridge also said today’s rates are comparable to 2022 levels and that it does not profit from the sale of natural gas, stating customers pay what Enbridge pays for the commodity with no markup.
“We know every dollar matters to our customers. This rate adjustment reflects our commitment to keeping energy affordable while ensuring we recover the actual costs of the investments we’ve made in maintaining and growing our reliable natural gas infrastructure to meet our customers’ needs,” said Judd Cook, vice president and general manager of Enbridge Gas Utah, Wyoming and Idaho. “We’re thinking about costs long before customers see a bill, and we work hard to shield customers from market volatility through strategic purchasing and long-term supply planning. Our goal is simple: deliver value and stability.”
Enbridge said customers who need help managing bills can access flexible payment plans and energy assistance programs online or by calling 1-800-323-5517.
Enbridge Gas serves more than 1.2 million customers across 33 counties in Utah, Wyoming and Idaho, and has provided natural gas service in the region for 95 years, the company said. Enbridge Gas is owned by Enbridge (ENB), a Canadian energy transportation and distribution company.
