Summit County seeks public input on new name for former Skullcandy building

SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Summit County is asking the public to help rename the recently acquired Skullcandy Building, inviting residents to vote on a new identity for the future county government hub in the Snyderville Basin.

The county purchased the Kimball Junction building in 2025 and is now transforming it into a centralized space for public services.

Voters can choose between three proposed names:

  • PEAK Center (Public Engagement at Kimball)
  • CIRC (County Information & Resource Center)
  • The Hub – Junction Services Hub

Voting is open through the latest Summit County newsletter.

Renovations on the ground floor are slated for completion in 2026, according to county officials. The county entered into a $4.2 million contract with Zwick Construction to build out the public-facing level, which will include a Summit County Library branch, the Utah Division of Motor Vehicles, conference rooms, and a large multi-purpose space where the Summit County Council will hold its Snyderville Basin meetings. County employee offices will occupy the upper floor.

The project also comes as the Sheldon Richins Building is slated for demolition next year as part of Dakota Pacific Real Estate’s mixed-use development, prompting the relocation of many county services into the former Skullcandy space. Summit County purchased the Skullcandy building for $17.5 million in May 2024.
