HEBER CITY, Utah — Black Rock Mountain Resort has become the newest hub for championship-level hockey, with the Utah Outliers U-20 Tier II junior hockey team now calling the resort’s newly opened Black Rock Mountain Event Center home.

The team’s name was inspired by Malcolm Gladwell’s “Outliers: The Story of Success,” reflecting the organization’s mission to develop exceptional athletes who compete at the highest levels of amateur hockey in North America.
The Outliers roster features athletes ages 17–20 from around the world, all pursuing advancement to collegiate or professional hockey. Junior hockey represents the top tier of amateur competition, serving as a crucial stepping stone for players aiming to reach the next level.
The Black Rock Mountain Event Center provides the Outliers with a state-of-the-art facility that enhances both the player and spectator experience. The venue’s intimate setting creates an electric atmosphere where fans can feel connected to the action from the first face-off to the final horn.
The Outliers will face the Ogden Mustangs at 7:05 p.m. Friday, followed by back-to-back games Dec. 29-30 against the Grand Junction River Hawks and Rock Springs Miners. The team will take on regional rivals, including the Pueblo Bulls, Casper Warbirds, and Idaho Falls Spud Kings, throughout the season, with all home games starting at 7:05 p.m.

Black Rock Mountain Resort makes it easy to build a complete evening around Outliers game days, relax in the resort’s cozy ambiance, and take advantage of easy access to Park City’s winter activities. Fans can dine before or after the game at the resort’s restaurants, including Overlook Restaurant, which features locally inspired cuisine with menus showcasing seasonal local foods and Utah’s diverse ingredients. On The Rocks Bar serves bold cocktails and irresistible bites in a relaxed atmosphere perfect for pre-game excitement or post-game celebrations.
The resort features après-ski entertainment, live music and festive décor throughout the season, making it an ideal destination for both Outliers fans and winter enthusiasts.
With the Event Center now open for games, concerts and special events, Black Rock Mountain Resort is a year-round destination that brings the Park City community together through sports, food, and entertainment.
