SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — Smoke in the Kimball Junction and western Summit County area is coming from an active prescribed burn north of Jeremy Ranch on the 910 ranch property. This is a planned operation and officals are asking not to report it.
State and federal fire crews are burning roughly 2,500 slash piles across 72 acres to lower future wildfire risk, improve forest health, and protect nearby neighborhoods. The burn is taking place under cool, wet conditions, and crews are on site monitoring all activity.
Residents in Kimball Junction, 910 Ranch, and surrounding areas may see or smell smoke as it drifts through the valley.
