PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Municipal will open an application process to fill a vacancy on the City Council following the election of Councilmember Ryan Dickey to mayor.
Dickey won the election by just seven votes in a closely contested race. He has indicated he plans to formally resign from the City Council shortly after the December 18 meeting, which will officially create the vacancy.
Under Utah state law, the City Council has 30 calendar days to appoint a qualified resident to serve the remainder of Dickey’s term, which expires in January 2028. The City must provide at least 14 calendar days of public notice before interviewing candidates and making the appointment.
The application window is expected to open by December 23, with applications accepted through January 5. Applicants must be registered Park City voters, maintain a primary residence within City limits, and have lived in Park City for at least 365 days prior to appointment.
After the application period closes, the City Council will conduct interviews with all qualified applicants during an open, public meeting. The City says that more details and application materials will be posted at www.parkcity.gov when they become available.
