PARK CITY, Utah – Park City Mountain will kick off its winter season on Friday, Dec. 5. The start comes two weeks later than originally planned, after an unusually warm and dry November stalled both natural snowfall and snowmaking efforts. A weekend storm finally delivered the temperatures and coverage the resort needed to get lifts spinning.
Both Mountain Village and Canyons Village are slated to open at 9 a.m., giving skiers and riders a choice of “first chair” at either base. At Canyons, the resort will also debut its rebuilt Sunrise Gondola with an 8:30 a.m. ribbon-cutting; the first 250 guests in line will receive a limited-edition pin.
For terrain, snowmaking crews have focused on early-season staples including Homerun, Kokopelli, the learning areas, and the Three Kings terrain park.

Park City Mountain won’t be the only resort kicking off the season on Friday—Alta and Sundance are also set to open that day too. Deer Valley has not yet released a revised opening date and Snowbird, Snowbasin and Woodward haven’t officially announced an opening. Powder Mountain plans to open December 12.
Brian Head in southern Utah, and Brighton and Solitude in Big Cottonwood Canyon are officially open for the season.
Skiers eyeing multi-resort access have two deadlines approaching: Epic Pass and Epic Day Pass sales close Dec. 4, while Ikon Pass purchases remain available through Dec. 11.
