Kamas man dies after boat capsizes at Flaming Gorge Reservoir

SALT LAKE CITY — A 68-year-old Kamas man died after his boat capsized on Flaming Gorge Reservoir near Manila, according to the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities identified the man as Brad Flinders, who had been camping and fishing out of the Lucerne Marina. Deputies said Flinders was reported missing Thursday after he failed to return home as expected and could not be reached.

Search efforts involving the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Forest Service continued overnight and into Friday morning. Flinders’ body and his overturned boat were later located along the reservoir near the Jug Hollow area. Investigators determined the cause of death was drowning, and officials said no further investigation is planned.

The sheriff’s office reminded boaters and anglers to wear life jackets when recreating on Utah’s waterways.
