SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A juvenile was taken into custody and transported to the Youth Detention Center after a traffic stop escalated into a pursuit late last night.
Deputies with the Summit County Sheriff’s Office attempted to stop a vehicle around 10:30 p.m. for a traffic violation, according to Sgt. Skyler Talbot. The driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit that was eventually called off when deputies lost sight of the vehicle.
Law enforcement conducted a wide-ranging search of the area using aerial resources, but the vehicle could not be located and the search was called off.
Deputies later identified the vehicle using a license plate reader. They contacted the registered owner, which led to the identification of the juvenile driver.
The juvenile was contacted later and taken into custody without incident before being transported to the Youth Detention Center.
No additional details are being released due to the case involving a juvenile.
