PARK CITY, Utah — Utah’s ski and snowboard season is just around the corner, with nearly every major resort on track to open as planned — and plenty of early-season excitement building across the state.
Only Brian Head Resort has adjusted its timeline slightly, now planning to open November 14, one week later than initially expected.
Elsewhere, the state’s marquee destinations are preparing to welcome skiers and riders right on schedule. Park City Mountain Resort, Utah’s largest ski area, is slated to open November 21, offering a lineup similar to last year’s opening weekend, which included First Time, Payday, and 3 Kings lifts, plus the Tommy Knocker Magic Carpet on the Park City side, and Cabriolet, Red Pine Gondola, Saddleback, and High Meadow at Canyons Village.
Neighboring Deer Valley Resort is planning a December 1 opening and says it expects to debut with a strong early-season offering — conditions permitting. Last year, the resort opened five runs across Bald Eagle and Bald Mountain, served by four chairlifts, and it anticipates a similar setup this year with more terrain to follow as snowmaking allows.
Both resorts said they plan to announce their official opening operations plan in a few weeks and that plan is contingent on the cooperation of Mother Nature.
In the Cottonwood canyons, Solitude Mountain Resort and Brighton are aiming to start the action on November 14, while Alta Ski Area is set for November 21 — the same day as Park City Mountain. Snowbird will open its lifts on November 27, just in time for Thanksgiving and two days ahead of their originial plan, followed by Snowbasin Resort and Woodward Park City on November 28.
Looking ahead to December, Powder Mountain plans to open December 12, and Eagle Point will follow on December 19. Several other family-friendly hills, including Sundance, Cherry Peak, Beaver Mountain, and Nordic Valley, will announce their dates soon as conditions allow.
