The Figure Skating Club of Park City sends 10 athletes to two national competitions

LAS VEGAS, Nevada — At the Pacific Coast Sectional Singles Final in Henderson, Nevada, Nov. 3-7, Autumn Boyd of the Figure Skating Club of Park City finished in sixth place in Novice Women, earning a spot on the U.S. Figure Skating National Development Team. She was also recognized as the Central Pacific Regional Champion.

Boyd had placed fifth after the Novice Women’s short program earlier in the competition before the Free Skate.

Teammate Ryder Willford finished sixth in Juvenile Girls with a clean skate and the highest program component score of the event. She was also recognized as the Central Pacific Bronze Medalist.
 
Momo Zhan won the Pacific Coast Sectional Championship in Juvenile Girls and is also the Northwest Pacific Regional Champion and 
Sophia finished seventh in Novice Women with a clean free skate.
 
Zacheri Wayman captivated the audience with his performance in Juvenile Boys, and Trevor Mebor skated a clean free skate in Novice Men and was in fifth place heading into the next day’s free skate.

Retired Olympian from the 2010 Vancouver Games Jeremy Barrett is a coach for Pairs at FSCPC.

“The Figure Skating Club of Park City has an incredible team coaching environment, led by Tiffany McNeil and Stephanie Chase Bass,” Erika Roberts told TownLift while she was volunteering last month at Youth Sports Alliance’s JANS Winter Welcome. She’s been the Skating Director at the Park City Ice Arena and the Club Coordinator for the Figure Skating Club of Park City since the building opened in 2006.

The four athletes traveled out of state for the Pacific Coast Sectional Singles Final. The other two singles are going to the Midwestern Sectional Singles Final because they are also competing in the U.S. Pairs Final, where two others will join them.

Matt and Madeline Penefiel, and Madison Lampe and Daschle Williams are the pairs representing Park City.

Roberts continued, “The coaches have created an environment that is fun, inspiring, motivational and technically sound, so that we have been able to produce athletes that compete a national level.”

Additionally, Roberts said, “The student-athlete’s have worked very hard all season to increase their technical as well as their artistic skating to earn these spots at these events.”

Brynn Roberts, 21, is Erika’s daughter who got her start in the sport in her mom’s club, is now a collegiate athlete at the University of Denver following her passion for figure skating as seen below.

She and other collegiate members at the University of Utah and the University of Denver headed to Arizona State last week for the Sun Devils Classic, the first Pacific Coast intercollegiate competition of the season.

Next, Park City skaters will travel and compete in Lansing, Michigan, from Nov. 17-22. 

Extravaganza on Ice annual performance at the Park City Ice Arena will be on Sat. Dec. 6 with two show times, 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tiered seating is available and ticket prices will start at $5.
