Police Log: Multiple noise complaints, traffic stops for vehicles with frosted windshields

Monday, November 17

Incident: Drugs
Deputies arrested an individual on SR-224 after locating user amounts of a controlled substance during a vehicle stop.

Incident: Traffic Stop
Deputies stopped a vehicle on U.S. 40 westbound after observing inconsistent speeds that prevented other drivers from safely passing.

Incident: Traffic Hazard
A vehicle was reported stopped in the middle of the road near E. Richardson Flat Road, blocking the westbound lane. The caller noted a language barrier while attempting to communicate with the driver.

Incident: Non-Injury Accident
A caller reported accidentally striking another vehicle with her tire on Park Avenue. No injuries were reported. The caller was driving a white Dodge 2500.

Incident: Accident
A vehicle struck a deer on Kearns Boulevard. The deer remained alive in the lane of travel. A caller not involved in the collision reported that the vehicle had pulled into a nearby area.

Incident: Animal Problem
A caller on Woodside Avenue reported a man with an aggressive off-leash dog.

Tuesday, November 18

Incident: Theft
Deputies responded to a theft at the Kimball Junction Liquor Store. The suspect was located shortly afterward at the transit center, detained, and found with the stolen items. The individual was arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Incident: Vehicle Burglary
Deputies took a report of a vehicle burglary at Newpark Studios Apartments. The complainant stated that sometime between midnight and 8 a.m. on November 16, a set of keys and a dashcam were stolen. No witnesses or footage were immediately available, and the case was forwarded to investigations.

Incident: Citizen Assist
A caller on Comstock Drive reported a strange, persistent noise coming from a neighbor’s home, possibly related to a hot tub pump.

Incident: Parking Problem
Construction crews on Woodside Avenue reported that a vehicle was parked in a private lot, blocking their ability to place materials.

Incident: Suspicious
A caller reported two males walking on Woodside Avenue taking photos of buildings and behaving suspiciously.

Wednesday, November 19

Incident: DUI / Alcohol Offenses
Deputies stopped a vehicle on SR-224 for traffic violations. The odor of alcohol was detected, and the driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests. The driver and front passenger were arrested and booked into the Summit County Jail. The rear passenger was transported to the hospital.

Thursday, November 20

Incident: Harassment
A caller on Iron Horse Drive reported that a male with a dog caused a disturbance inside a coffee shop.

Incident: Wildlife Problem
A caller on Lucky John Drive reported concern for a lone baby deer in the backyard. An adult deer with antlers had been nearby earlier but was no longer present.

Friday, November 21

Incident: DUI
Deputies stopped a vehicle at SR-224 and Ute Boulevard for traffic violations. While arresting the driver on an outstanding warrant, deputies detected the odor of alcohol. The driver performed poorly on field sobriety tests, was arrested for DUI, and booked into the Summit County Jail.

Incident: Traffic Stop
A vehicle was stopped on Round Valley Drive for rolling through a red light during a right turn and failing to signal two subsequent right turns.

Incident: Accident
A mostly Spanish-speaking caller reported hitting a deer on SR-224. The caller needed documentation for insurance and awaited contact from law enforcement.

Incident: Traffic Stop
Deputies stopped a vehicle on Deer Valley Drive for operating without headlights after dark.

Saturday, November 22

Incident: Traffic Stop
A vehicle was stopped on Sidewinder Drive for driving with more than half of the windshield frosted over.

Incident: Traffic Stop
Deputies stopped a vehicle on Doc Holliday Drive for frost covering the driver-side view.

Incident: Graffiti
Deputies responded to Swede Alley where an anti-police message written in chalk was found in a stairwell. The message was removed and caused no damage.

Incident: Disturbing the Peace
A caller at Treasure Mountain Inn reported excessively loud music coming from Main Street. They were unsure if the noise exceeded allowed decibel levels.

Sunday, November 23

Incident: Citizen Complaint
A taxi driver on Main Street reported that another driver of a large red truck with a taxi sign was harassing other taxi drivers.

Incident: Disturbing the Peace
A caller on Lowell Avenue reported loud partying on the third floor, noting that “everyone is partying because there is no snow.”

Incident: Traffic Stop
Deputies stopped a vehicle on SR-248 for speeding in heavy fog and failing to fully activate headlights, leaving the rear lights unlit.
