PARK CITY, Utah — The Park City High School Miners Girls’ Swim Team took the win over the Murray High School Spartans on Tuesday evening at home in the Park City School District’s Ecker Hill Middle School venue.
“I’m super happy with this season opener,” Miners Head Coach Gadi Shamah told TownLift.

Following are the names of Park City’s seniors swimming on the team this year:
- Anna Klug
- Dmitriy Siminovskiy
- Taylor Bergman
- Kyler Collier
- Ruby Neath
- Kathryn Schofield
- Aisling Taylor

“As a coach, I am a big fan of building character, building good swimmers, good people, and good young men and women coming out of it.” Shamah said, “So, I’m excited to continue to have that as our focus. And I’m very proud of my kids and the program that we’ve created, and the way they behave, and not only as swimmers, but as people,” Shamah said.
No individual events are held in high school swimming; only team competition is conducted. “There are definitely some top performers, though, which I expect we’ll see more of this season.” They only have individual events at Regionals and at the State Championships, the titles for which were won by both the girls and boys Miner’s teams last year.
“This high school sport is definitely focused on the team aspect, and representing your high school. As such, I’ve made sure we do a lot of talking and a lot of prep work about representing your high school, being a good example of being a good role model, as well as putting in good efforts and good swims,” Shamah shared.

The boys narrowly lost to Murray. “It was a close match for them,” Shamah said.
The boys on this team are currently a little younger than the girls’ group, so it makes sense that their training trajectory is a work in progress. “Every team has its ebbs and flows with younger swimmers, older swimmers, and depending on who graduates, but our team right now has been great,” Shamah shared.
They all go up against East High next, followed by a big invitational meet at Kearns hosted by Bingham, in which Shamah has high hopes because, if the past is prologue, Park City stands to do quite well.
