Deer Valley Resort delays season opening due to warm weather

PARK CITY, Utah — Deer Valley Resort announced Tuesday it will postpone the opening of its 2025-26 winter season because unseasonably warm temperatures have prevented adequate snowmaking.

The resort had planned to open earlier than usual this year, but said current conditions would not allow it to deliver the quality experience for which it is known.

Deer Valley said it will announce a new opening date once sustained cold weather enables consistent snowmaking operations. The resort recently upgraded to what it describes as one of the industry’s most advanced automated snowmaking systems, doubling its overall capacity from last season.

“Our teams have been working tirelessly to prepare for what will be a historic winter at Deer Valley,” said President & COO Todd Bennett. “Thanks to years of investment and an extraordinary amount of work from our staff, we now have one of the most advanced snowmaking systems anywhere. This delay is entirely weather-driven. As soon as temperatures drop, our crews will move quickly and efficiently to open with the Deer Valley Difference our guests and community expect, especially in a season as important as this one.”

The resort said it will provide updates to passholders, staff and the local community as snowmaking progresses.
