Black Rifle Coffee joins forces to combat the silent crisis of Veterans’ medical debt

PARK CITY, Utah — In honor of Veterans Day, Black Rifle Coffee Company has launched a campaign aimed at addressing a significant issue faced by veterans: medical debt. From November 7 to 11, the veteran-founded company will donate 100% of the proceeds from its online sales to help eliminate up to $25 million in medical debt for more than 10,000 veterans. This initiative is a collaboration between Black Rifle Coffee, the athletic and lifestyle apparel brand Born Primitive, and the debt relief organization ForgiveCo.

“The numbers are staggering,” said Mat Best, co-founder of Black Rifle Coffee. “Too many of our brothers and sisters who served are struggling with medical bills that threaten their stability. We wanted to take meaningful action to ease that burden.”

Recent data highlights the urgency of the situation. Over one-third of U.S. veterans express concern about affording medical care, and one in five has medical debt in collections — a rate significantly higher than that of the general population. Additionally, more than 33% of veterans report receiving unexpected medical bills of $1,000 or more, even when covered by insurance. Post-9/11 veterans, in particular, are especially vulnerable, often dealing with service-related health issues and barriers to obtaining VA care. Studies indicate that veterans with medical debt are twice as likely to face eviction or housing insecurity.

This initiative is part of Black Rifle Coffee’s ongoing commitment to support active-duty military personnel, veterans, and first responders. Since its founding, the company has donated millions of dollars to programs and partnerships serving these communities.

Best, a former Army Ranger and advocate for veteran causes, emphasized that the effort reflects the company’s core values. “Our brand was built to serve those who’ve served,” he stated. “Helping relieve the burden of medical debt is another way we can demonstrate that commitment.”

The campaign runs through Veterans Day, November 11, on Black Rifle Coffee’s online store.
